IPB Appointed to Organize ICRTH 2023 in Bogor Upcoming
Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) has been appointed to host the International Conference on Responsible Tourism and Hospitality (ICRTH) in Bogor Regency, West Java in August 2023. It is known, the event will be followed by 30 countries. This decision is the result of a joint auction system between Vietnam and Thailand at the closing of the conference in Sarawak, Malaysia on Saturday, August 3, 2022.
The 2023 International Conference, carrying the theme “Reviving Tourism Through Green Investment” as proposed. The theme is considered in line with the Bogor City Government and Indonesia’s programs. As stated by Professor of IPB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanto Santosa to the media crew by telephone, Sunday (04/09/2022) afternoon. “This means that it involves a lot of local communities, especially participation. They can also benefit,” he said.
Yanto explained that the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) stated that green investment is an investment activity that focuses on companies or investment prospects that are committed to natural resource conservation, production and discovery of alternative sources of new and renewable energy (EBT). Including the implementation of water and clean air projects as well as investment activities that are friendly to the surrounding environment.
“The focus of green economy development must be in line with environmental development goals such as climate change, controlling damage to biodiversity and environmental pollution, as well as the use of new and renewable energy. Green investment is also low-emission, sustainable, which pays attention to environmental ecology and conservation as well as zero waste,” he explained.
Yanto added, green investments that use new and renewable energy such as palm oil, waterfalls, solar and wind. According to him, this is in line with the green economy with environmentally friendly development, social and cultural.
IPB as the organizer of the 2023 conference, he continued, has the opportunity to become a bridge or forum for having networking in the context of mutual recognition (recognition of professional workers, ed) starting from Asia, Europe and the world. “We can export scientific experts to Paris, Germany, the Netherlands and other countries,” said the Head of the Postgraduate Study Program for Tropical Biodiversity Conservation of IPB.
He believes that future tourism will tend to be on biodiversity, conservation of forest resources and ecotourism, culture and culinary. Especially at this time, Indonesia has been named the number one Most Beautiful Country in the World according to Forbes 2022.
“The role of the media is very important. Media can make something great and it can fall. The media can support it by reporting on the excellence of education and higher education, the beauty of nature, and a variety of cultures, he stressed. “At this conference, we continue to coordinate with the Dean and Chancellor of IPB, the Mayor of Bogor and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy,” he concluded.
